Client: Commonwealth Department of Health and Family Services, Aged and Community Care Branch
This national project involved developing and testing the form, content and distribution of a National Information Kit for Indigenous Carers and creating tools to assist service providers access resources and develop regional networks. As well as development of the major kit components, our multi-disciplinary team used culturally appropriate consultation and qualitative research to conduct a benchmarking study and develop an evaluation program and a service provider data-base. The study included focus groups and interviews with carers, clients and service providers and covered urban, rural and remote locations in all states and territories. The kit and its distribution system were developed for groups with widely varying literacy skills and cultural backgrounds, using existing products and service delivery structures. It required an understanding of the needs of the primary client group as well as those of service providers in the sector.
