National Research Project into Indigenous Identity

A national research and evaluation project into the Indigenous response to the standard ABS question on Indigenous status. The research aimed to explore Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ attitudes and feelings about the form of the question, about being asked the question and about their responses over time and in varying situations. The report explores changing attitudes to identity and implications for further research in this area and provides valuable information to all agencies which ask the Indigenous status question.
