Client: The Foundation for Young Australians
A three-year project to evaluate a philanthropic program aimed at assisting Indigenous youth to develop leadership skills and capacity through developing and delivering programs to young people in their own communities. The work involved site visits to partner organisations in Qld., NSW and metropolitan and rural South Australia, interviews with participants, host bodies, mentors and advisors, and with Foundation staff. The evaluation frameworks and tools were developed in partnership with the participants, and involved basic evaluation training and objective clarification. The Stage1 report addressed specific questions regarding the effectiveness of The Foundation’s investment, the degree and nature of youth participation, the experience of program partners, the outcomes achieved and the extent to which these fit with The Foundation’s objectives. The Stage 2 evaluation advised the Foundation on its processes, tools and the effectiveness of its partnership approach in achieving the intended outcomes.
